Let’s hold our breath, revenge can’t be concluded in just three movies. We can wait for John Wick 4. John Wick 3 was teased as the culmination of a trilogy, but its ending leaves the story wide open for John Wick 4.

The story of John Wick is simple. A retired assassin’s dog is killed. The dog was the last gift of his dearest wife. It bringing him out of retirement. But this is no regular assassin: this is John Wick, the Baba Yaga. His violence is brutal and drive for revenge relentless; by the time of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, he’s enacting his balletic gun-fu against the might of the ruling High Table. And, it seems, that’s just the start.

John Wick 4 was originally assigned a release date of May 21, 2021. This would’ve put it in direct competition with fellow Keanu Reeves-fronted sequel The Matrix 4. However, Reeves was set to film John Wick 4 after Matrix 4, and thanks to Coronavirus production shutdowns, that’s no longer possible in time for their formerly shared release date. Now, John Wick 4 is officially slated to release on May 27, 2022.

Although the official details regarding the story of John Wick 4 are being kept secret for now, there was still clearly a plan for more of John Wick, given the end of Chapter 3 – Parabellum. After an intense fight to protect the Continental, manager Winston shoots and apparently kills John to regain favor at the High Table. John, however, is not dead and is taken to the Bowery King which speaks of revenge. Asking if John is angry, the bruised and bruised assassin growls, “Yeah.” This would clearly create a John Wick 4 where John and the Bowery King work together against the High Table and the Continental, waging the all-out war that the Parabellum title teased.

But just because John Wick’s revenge plot doesn’t mean that the public won’t get anything out of this world until 2022. Stahelski is currently working on a John Wick TV spin-off for Starz called The Continental focused on coin exchange hotel. The series will follow a new character, but potentially feature a cameo from Keanu Reeves (although Ian McShane is unlikely to return). This will likely be presented before John Wick 4.
