Rainbow Six Siege

Let me paint a picture for you. It is 2016 you are a 16-year-old kid who has just discovered the joy that is YouTube gaming you are watching your favorite YouTubers playing GTA. Suddenly a recommendation pops up for a Youtube video creator called cartoonz. They are playing a game called Rainbow Six Siege, this game released by Ubisoft in 2015 it’s a first-person shooter with tactical realism, and YOU CAN BLOW THE WINDOWS AND WALLS WITH BREACH CHARGES.

Instantly you fall in love with the gameplay the realism, the gunfire, the breach charges, the variety of guns, to top it off every operator i.e., The playable characters in the game have their unique abilities from face shields with Blackbeard on the weapon to a walking tank that has protection covering his body and sides from the front bonkers compared to what you have been used to seeing in classics games like call of duty. In Rainbow Six Siege, every operator stands out, and they are unique and have unique playstyles for whatever suits you best.

Enough talk about the operators the thing that stood out the most was the tactical realism, unlike other games where you are just a marauder that runs and guns everywhere shooting everything in sight. You go through different rounds as an attacking team and a defending team. The tactics start even before the series begins. There is a prep phase for 45 seconds in which attackers get a drone to site out the enemies, and the defenders get their time to barricade doors and windows and get completely set up for the incoming push from the attackers.

All this is great, but the cheery on top is the “One Shot Mechanic” this means that good aim is rewarded when u land a headshot with any gun in the game be it a pistol, rifle, SMG, Shotgun, revolver, Hand-Canon (Talking about Juan drag you know if you know) it does a damage count of 120 which means all it takes for you to get a kill is one shot on the head and all it takes for you to die is one shot on the head, raising the stakes by that much more.

So, 16-Year-old you decide, this is what I want to play right now thanks to cartoonz YouTuber and being out of pocket money for that month chooses to get a second-hand PS4 edition of Rainbow Six Siege and let the hours and hours on hours of Rainbow six siege commence.

First day of Rainbow Six Siege

When you started playing Rainbow Six Siege, you had to complete a series of 10 mission’s basically to familiarize you with the characters available in the game at the time Jumping in realize just how skilled you can get at shooting as well as how creative you can get with the tools you have. You start coming up with different strategies rushing in, taking it slow and steady droning, or just popping a head off when you see it. It’s just such a varied and crazy experience that you call your friends over to show them your discovery and have a great time playing Rainbow Six Siege and practically force them to buy the game and play with you.

Jumping into casual games is when the real fun beings for the beginners, make a note that this is a time in siege’s legacy when there where no smurfs, those veterans OG players that have been playing the game since day one and make another account just to smack around some newbs.

You learn Rainbow Six Siege as it meant to play, and you fall in love with it. If I had to give a comparison to the modern-day battle royales,” Siege is the equivalent of the last circle in a battle royale” Constant concentration danger and kill hunger every moment.

Rainbow Six Siege over the years

The dev’s at Ubisoft has stated that they will support and keep creating more content for Rainbow six siege till there are 50 operators on both the attacking and the defending side of the game. They have been increasingly more and more creative with the gadgets they give the operators constantly changing the meta of the game.

The gadget introductions that I find most appealing and creative have been Dokkabei introduced in operation ember rise has some hacking devices, after killing a defender they drop their mobile phone’s that have all the defender’s data( isn’t that true to the real world) you can hack into this mobile phone to get access to the defender’s cams and all of a sudden the defenders have to decide whether to shoot out their cameras. You can even go ahead and ring them up for 8 seconds (it was indefinite on introduction). They will have to shut their mobile phones off while you are pushing into them.

On the defender’s side, Oryx introduced in Operation shifting tides; Oryx is a pure beast of a defender he can run through non-reinforced walls and jump on different floors through hatches that are already broken.

Rainbow Six Siege is at half capacity right now, meaning that the devs have promised us 25 more characters on both sides approx. With support on next-gen consoles and Rainbow Six esports booming like crazy with every big team competing for the siege is here to last a long time. So, why don’t you give it a go and jump into assault?
