If Episode 1 was a bit of a disappointment, One Punch Man Season 2 Episode 2 put the excitement right back into the game. Although we didn’t see Saitama finishing heroes off with just one punch, there were much more exciting battles and a dazzling exhibition of power and villains. Here’s another post that only has the synopsis of the episode.
Garo kills everyone at the Lawmaker’s meeting except the Lawmaker himself. His fighting skills prove to be no match for two class-A heroes who get killed mercilessly by him. Garo leaves the meeting center and wanders around, searching the place for heroes he can hunt.
Meanwhile, Saitama is his usual nonchalant self and his disciple, Genos detects a high-speed object approaching them. It turns out that the high-speed “object” was Speed-O-Sound Sonic and seemed determined to settle his score with Saitama from OPM season 1.
Genos and Sonic battle it out with each other while Fubuki visits Saitama and asks him to join her hero club. Saitama is still his ignorant self and is utterly clueless on who Blizzard (Fubuki) might be. Their interaction is a bit comic and this is the part that feels as though One Punch Man is gaining momentum again.
Completely irritated by Saitama’s utter disregard for rules, Fubuki asks her lackeys to beat him up. Saitama sends them both flying into tyres nearby. This enrages Fubuki becomes and she engages in a battle with Saitama.
One Punch Man Season 2 Episode 2: Saitama’s new side
During the battle with Fubuki, Saitama teaches us something important. He tells Fubuki that she’ll never be a proper hero if she relies on her superiority to feel better. Although we see Saitama being sensible in the manga, this is the first time we see him say something serious and wise.
When Fubuki is almost caught in the fight between Genos and Saitama, he saves her and tells Genos that his new parts are not meant for street fights. Later, he also saves Genos from Sonic during their fight.
This is also the first time that Saitama shows a mild disciplinarian side towards his pupil. It seems strikingly odd and almost doesn’t suit him but it’s nice to see different sides of his character. Now, we’ve got to watch out for both lessons and punches from Saitama. (Tbh, they’re both enjoyable
One Punch Man Season 2 Episode 2: Fubuki’s insecurities
Towards the end of the episode, Fubuki reveals that she has always felt inferior to her sister. Therefore, she isn’t willing to relinquish her Rank 1 status in Class B.
She also points out that it’s virtually impossible for anybody to climb up the ladder because of heroes like Handsome Kamen (Amai Mask) and Lightning Genji in class A.
Although Fubuki seems cool, her debut episode reveals that she has a lot of insecurities and is very much worried about numbers and ranks. Genos points out that this is a stark contrast to Saitama whose natural strength draws people towards him.
The episode ends with King paying the duo a visit and Fubuki wishing that they were all companions.
