Three Eyed Raven Theories You Should Read Before Season 8

With Game of Thrones Season 8 about to premier soon, fans are expecting a lot of loose ends to be tied up within the first few episodes. Considering that this season will only have 6 episodes, with a lot of the action centered on the war with the Night King and the war for the Iron Throne, the more cerebral chunks of the show will have to have their moments structured carefully in the initial part of the season. Having said that, of course, if the Three Eyed Raven has a huge role to play in the final outcome, we won’t really learn of it all right at the beginning! Here are some of the bombshells that fans think will be dropped about this character:

The three eyed raven is Bran from the future

Now, with Game of Thrones, we know that time is a loop. As the Three Eyed Raven tells Bran, “the past is already written, the ink is dry”. Nothing that Bran does can influence the outcomes of the present. So, what if his role is just to make sure that things happen the way they are supposed to? With this logic comes the theory that Bran is the Three Eyed Raven. Fans believe that the old mentor is Bran from the future, who has travelled back in time to teach his younger self how to truly tap into his abilities.

Clues in the show like Jojen Reed telling Bran that “the Three Eyed Raven is you” and dialogues spoken by the three Eyed Raven like “It is time for you to become me” point towards this theory being true. Honestly, though, if that is the case, then his comment about living in the cave for more than a 1000 years does not really make too much sense.

The Three Eyed raven is has been taking over bodies for a millennia

According to this theory, the Three Eyed Raven is highly accomplished at Warging while Time Travelling, and has been taking over different bodies for over a thousand years to continue to live and influence the happenings in the Realm. This theory ties into the ‘Bran is all the Brans” theory that we spoke about earlier. Except, instead of Bran Stark being the one person to control all events, it is this mysterious Three Eyed Raven. The theory states that this character has warged into Brandon the Builder, Bloodraven, and even Bran Stark (after his physical body dies in season 6). This can explain why Bran has been acting so robotic and cold.

The Three Eyed Raven is Bloodraven

According to this theory, the Three Eyed Raven is actually Bloodraven, a Targaryen Bastard who was born 125 years before the events of the show. Bloodraven is an essential character who has been known for being a master manipulator who influenced the happenings in the Realm. Sounds too familiar? We know that Bloodraven had magical abilities – what if he fused himself in the cave to continue warging and extended his life through the power of the Old Gods? Again, the theory is negated by the line about the Three Eyed Raven living in the cave for more than as 1,000 years.
