Introduction

So you have finally decided to play a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena(MOBA) game to dive into the world of strategies and role play. The League of Legends (LOL) is the perfect game for you to try it out as it is one of the most popular games ever played with almost ten years and counting with a huge massive user base across the globe on various servers such as North America, European Nordic and East, Europe East, Republic of Korea, Latin America South, Oceania, Russia, Japan, Brazil, etc. So select your server, create your account and let’s get started with the game where there are amazing champions to explore.

The game is played between two teams of five players each when played on the Summoner’s Rift Map where the teams are divided as Red team and Blue team. Every player will select a unique champion where each character has four sets of unique abilities which along with Passive abilities interact with it during the game. The first three abilities are considered to be basic abilities and the fourth one is known as the Ultimate ability. The ultimate ability requires the highest cooldown and therefore the player must be aware of when the ability has to be used otherwise he/she will have to wait for 160 seconds, 120 seconds, etc. depending on the champion. To cast the abilities, champions require Mana, energy and some do not require anything at all apart from the cooldown duration. The cooldown lets the player use the ability to have a better edge over the other champions and therefore the lower the cooldown the higher the chance to use it more. The cooldown of the abilities can be reduced once the abilities are levelled up after ever level up of the champion. A champion can be levelled up to 18 times during the game and along with that, the abilities, attack, health, speed, armour, etc. can also be levelled up to outshine the other opponents. Therefore the abilities can be bifurcated as:

  • P: Passive
  • Q: Can be levelled up five times
  • W: Can be levelled up five times
  • E: Can be levelled up five times
  • R: Ultimate Ability with the highest cooldown and can be levelled up 3 times.

The goal is to destroy the enemy team’s Nexus (Home Base) to win the game or if the enemy team surrenders then also the opposite team will be at the victory state. Let’s dive deep into the top five champions for the beginners at the start of the League of Legends (LOL) game. It will cover all the major five roles of the game which include, Top lanner, Middle (Mid) lanner, Jungler, Bottom (Bot) lanner and support champions. Every ability will depend on the level of the champion during the game.

1. Garen

The Might of Demacia.

One of the best champions to start with if you are planning to play solo at the top lane all by yourself. This champion is surely a tank but a great fighter who uses a sword for all the melee attacks against its opponents. Garen is one of the most popular champions who is even been seen playing today by many players and does rank at the top 10 choices of many. The best thing about Garen is that he does not require any mana to cast his abilities and it’s only based on the cooldown so no need to worry about when you have Garen by your side. The abilities of Garen are:

  • P- Perseverance: Can restore health every 5 seconds when damage not taken.
  • Q-Decisive Strike: Cleanses himself from slow attacks and gains bonus movement. His next basic attack will have more damage based on the level.
  • W- Courage: Gain bonus armour by killing an enemy.
  • E- Judgment: Garen spins his sword around for 3 seconds dealing damage to the enemy present in the circle. The recast of the ability can stop it from spinning.
  • R- Demacian Justice: Garen can cast his ultimate by calling the Might of Demacia on the enemy champion to deal true damage.

2. Warwick

The Uncaged Wrath of Zaun

This monster is surely the cruel one but even the enemies fear from him as Warwick is a champion which can smell the fear of the foes from a large distance and therefore they like to keep their distance from him. He is fused with pumps and chambers, therefore, making him a wild experiment. Warwick majorly uses his teeth and nails for all the melee attacks. The abilities of Warwick are:

  • P- Eternal Hunger: Deals bonus damage and if below 50% of health, he will heal himself based on the level.
  • Q-Jaws of the Beast: Lunges towards the target by dealing heavy damage and heals himself with a portion of the damage given.
  • W- Blood Hunt:
    • Passive: Warwick can sense the champions who are below 50% of their total health creating a “blood trail” and giving speed to Warwick.
    • Active: The nearby champions are sensed by Warwick who falls under the current radius.
  • E- Primal Howl:
    • Passive: Incoming damages are reduced.
    • Active: When activated, Warwick howls which scare the enemy and slow them down.

If you wish to select the Mid lane and are confident enough to help the top and bot lanes at times then Annie is the right choice to start with. Don’t fall for her cuteness as she is the child who is ranged and uses the magic to fight against her foes. She is fearless and is on her mission to set all things right. The abilities of Annie are:

The Frost Ranger

League of Legends Ashe https://wallpapersite.com/games/ashe-league-of-legends-artwork-2017-4k-8k-8829.html

Ashe is one of the easiest champions to play with at the beginning when you want to rule the Bot lane along with your Support champion. She can be said to be one of the coolest ADC (Attack Damage Carry) champions. Ashe uses her bow and arrow to play the role of the marksman by playing at the safest distance and dealing with the enemy champions. She is the Queen from the land of the Freljord. The abilities of Ashe are:

  • P- Frost Shot: The basic attacks slow down the enemy champions.
  • Q- Rangers’s Focus:
    • Passive: When Ashe hits four times to enemies or minions, she can stack up to four shots which can be used during the active phase.
    • Active: Ashe gains bonus speed attack for 4 seconds and shoots furry arrows of five each.
  • W- Volley: Fires nine arrows in a cone direction.
  • E- Hawkshot: Stores up to two charges of arrows which can then be shot across the map to gain the vision and see what’s going on and the enemies do not take any sort of damage.
  • R- Enchanted Crystal Arrow: Ashe fires an arrow missile of ice towards the direction across anywhere in the map. The enemies take huge damage and are stunned if the arrow is shot from far and the surrounding champions also take the damage and are stunned for a short duration.

5. Soraka

The Starchild

League of Legends Soraka https://wallpapercave.com/soraka-wallpapers

For those who are into supporting the team and helping the teammates by providing health to teammates and stuns to other champions then Soraka is a perfect choice, to begin with as a Support champion. She is a ranged champion that uses magic to enhance her abilities and surprise the foes with it. The abilities of Soraka are:

  • P- Salvation: Soraka runs towards the ally champion when they are below 40% of their health by gaining 70% movement speed to Soraka.
  • Q- Starcall: Soraka calls down the star towards the target location by dealing damage to foes and helps in revealing the area. If the foes are hit, Soraka can be healed for every second based on the level.
  • W- Astral Infusion: Soraka can heal the ally champion on whom she casts.
  • E- Equinox: Creates a celestial zone towards the target location dealing magic damage to the foes present inside the zone. If the foes fail to escape from the zone during the limited time, they are silenced for a few seconds.
  • R- Wish: Soraka heals all the allied champions across the whole map no matter how far her friends are.

Hope this guide comes to be handy for all the new players out there who want to experiment with their skills on LOL. There are many other champions as well who are easy to be played with. You can try out the entire pool of champions to see who matches as per your skills. To know more about why League of Legends is my favourite game, click here.
