No one can forget the moment when Nick Fury pushed a distress button call on his pager to call Captain Marvel at the end of the Avengers: Infinity War. Since then, the excitement to see the new superhero on the block had reached all heights. However, when the movie hit the theatres last month, we got to know that Nick Fury knew Captain marvel more than a decade before he met Iron Man. In the Captain Marvel movie, we see the incredible powers of Captain Marvel, which she got after an explosion that involved the space stone. In short, she is the Superman of MCU. Many believe that she is the key to defeating Thanos in the Endgame but the question is how. Let us delve into some theories that give us an idea about her role in the Endgame.
There is no doubt in the fact that time travel will play a crucial role in the endgame. It can be with the help of Scott Lang’s ability to go in and out of Quantum Realm or Doctor Strange playing a crucial role with his Time Stone. However, one more major plot line could be in which Captain Marvel travelling through time with the help of light speed engine. We know how she manages to create the light speed engine at the end of the Captain Marvel movie to help the Skrulls reach somewhere far away from the Kree. She can use this technology to time travel back and forth and take the fellow avengers with her in this mission. In the end, we see Captain Marvel giving back the pager back to Nick Fury after she had upgraded it. She tells him that he may call her for help only during emergencies. She tells that she is going away a couple of galaxies away with the Skrulls. The only way of covering the distance of a couple of galaxies, in short notice is time travel and to further prove this theory is the end credits scene of the Captain Marvel movie and also the new teaser of Avengers: Endgame that dropped in a couple of weeks ago. In both the scenes, we see Captain Marvel confronting the Avengers just a few days after the snap. Again, there is no other way to reach Earth from such a far-off place on such short notice.
Apart from the possibility of her helping with the time travel, one thing we can be sure about is that she is a force that Thanos is yet to face. Captain Marvel has the ability to fly, use brute strength and send across powerful energy beams on her opponents. The best part is that she is yet to find her true potential. She got all her power from the Space Stone and thus becomes the only the Avenger left alive
with the influence of an infinity stone within them, after the death of Vision and Doctor Strange. She along with Thor and Hulk (if he comes out) are the only Avengers who stand a chance against Thanos in a one on one battle. Furthermore, since she is powered by the space stone herself, who is to say that she cannot destroy the gauntlet using the same powers. We did see something similar happening when Wanda manages to destroy the Mind Stone using her powers, which she got from the Mind Stone itself.
With so many things to offer, Captain Marvel is surely the one superhero that every existing Avenger will look up to for answers during the Endgame.
