Resident Evil-3:Review
Resident Evil-3, is a linear action-horror game, utilizing assets from its predecessor Resident Evil3 , a survival-horror game, mirroring the original Resident Evil-3 development. Resident Evil-3 is somewhat divisive as a game, being a shorter, content light, more action oriented game with a full price tag, compared to previous titles in a franchise of survival-horror games with a large array of ways to play, and content to enjoy. Its fundamental nature has crossed over completely in this remake. However, these things do not inherently make it a bad game by any means, just a more niche one. It still very much promotes replayability with unlockables such as skins for characters, new weapons, character upgrades, as well as a concept art and model gallery. This is a good practice taken from Resident Evil-2 and expanded on slightly.
Subsequent runs of the game are also notably different, and i think this is where the game shines in comparison to Resident Evil-2. Its short nature allows runs to be refined to incredibly short stints of time, memorizing item and enemy placement, learning the quickest routes, etc etc. All of these things could be done in Resident Evil-2, yes, and its DLC allowed for it more specifically with the 4th Survivor, however i feel this is a far more compelling experience than DLC.
I recommend this game completely, as i enjoy playing it immensely, and will continue to do so, and refine my gameplay. However, i can understand that its shorter, partial-asset flip, more action oriented nature can put people off, and to boot its full price! To those with such a sentiment, i understand, and would recommend purchasing it during a sale.
TL;DR, good game, sorta niche, buy if you like action-horror and speedrunning, get on sale if you are on the fence.
