Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare 2 – Steam Review
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is like Call of Duty 4: Modern warfare but one more. The events happen after I five years since the events of Call of Duty 4, the Ultranationalists had won the war anyway. Still, another faction, that the Ultranationalists weren’t Ultranationalist enough splintered off under the leadership of Vladimir Makarov, who might have the evilest Russian name on the planet.
Trying to get in on Makarov, General Sheperd turned Joseph Allen, a former Army Ranger into a CIA operative and planted within Makarov’s inner circle. But somehow Makarov knows and uses Joseph Allen to frame the USA for an airport shooting in Moscow, that incident becomes the spark for the war between Russian and the USA. Blood for Blood the Russians invade the United States, and the player plays the role of US Rangers to protect the US regions also.
From there, players go on a quest to stop Makarov as TF 141, as well as defend memorable American landmarks as the US Rangers, such notable places as the Washington Monument, the White House, and Burgertown. Weapons return from MW1, now updated to look fancier, but also some new weapons are added to the roster, there is not a single lousy shotgun in this game.
Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare 2 has the advantage over COD4 by having much more memorable levels. When your commanding officer tells Player to Defend a burger joint using predator missiles and thermal scoped sniper rifles, the Player doesn’t forget it.
It’s also a bit more exciting, looking up to see para trooping Russians over American soil, seeing dozens, if not hundreds of helicopters and planes fly overhead, looking down on the Washington monument as the Americans desperately try to hold the perimeter, raiding a Russian Gulag, firing a nuclear missile from a submarine, all of these stand out more. If they’re going to rely more on cinematic set-pieces, Player may as well make them memorable.
CAMPAIGN REVIEW (Single Player):
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign is about 6 hours length roughly and can be shorter or longer depending on difficulty selected by the player. The story itself is very good and is set 5 years on from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It is not a Hollywood Blockbuster but at the same time, it is not a random quickly written story. Each mission has different objectives and the Player can feel the climax building up to the finale of the game. Every level is action-filled and there is never a dull moment in the campaign. As players progress and will play in different locations in the world such as Afghanistan, Brazil, Russia, the Atlantic Ocean, and the United States. Even after completing the story, there are Intel collectibles to find and of course Steam achievements. There are also quite a few Easter Eggs in the campaign levels. The story for this then continues on into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
SPEC OPS REVIEW (Single Player / CO-OP):
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign Special Op missions are mostly the same as those of campaign levels but switched in another way round and with different objectives at each level. Totally 23 spec ops missions in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. 21/23 task can be done on player alone or with a friend and 2 Spec Ops missions that can only be done a 2nd player.
The missions get harder and harder when level on, and some levels are resued from old CODModer warfare games. Matchmaking is no available in Spec Ops, so the only way to find another player is to invite/join a friend and begin playing.
