Game of Thrones season 6 was probably one of the least liked seasons when it comes to the reception that it received from fans. However, having said that, it did have its moments of glory. Some of these are:

1.Rise from the dead

With the last season ending with Jon Snow’s death, everyone was left flabbergasted. However, fans had a ray of hope in the form of Melissandre. She tries to resurrect Jon Snow with her magic and prayers to the Lord of Light. All the prayers finally come to play when Jon opens his eyes and breathes a sigh of
relief, or life, as we should say. The game of thrones takes a turn once again, once Jon Snow springs back to life. Now, the North again has a face to represent it.

2. Stark Family reunion

Sansa, Brienne and Podrick reach the Wall in search of Jon Snow. Jon runs down the stairs in anticipation to meet his stepsister. Sansa jumps on to him and hugs him with all the love she has. This scene was probably the only good thing that happened to the Stark kids after they were separated in the first season. This mini-Stark-reunion was probably one of the most emotional scenes in the show. Sansa tells Jon that Ramsay Bolton has taken Winterfell and she intends to take her home back. Jon is a little apprehensive about leaving the Wall but later decides to wage a war against Ramsay. This reunion is the start of the resurgence of the Starks in the Realm.

3. Hold the Door or ‘Hodor’

No matter what one’s perspective on the realm may be, this is a scene that scars everyone. When Bran is having visions about the past in the cave of the Three-Eyed Raven, the Night King arrives with his army outside the cave. This leaves the Children of Forest, Meera and Hodor frightened. With Bran still in his
vision and not waking up, Hodor and Meera take him outside the cave from the other side. The Children of Forest and Bran’s dire wolf Summer try to fight off the Wights but to no avail. Once Meera, Hodor and Bran are out, Meera takes away Bran who is still in his vision, leaving Hodor to guard the door. Meera keeps asking him to ‘Hold the Door’ and this whole incident is affecting the young Hodor who is present in Bran’s vision. The young Hodor falls down and experiences seizures. This is probably because of Bran accidentally warging into the young Hodor in his vision instead of the present Hodor in real time. This forms a tunnel or a time loop, which leads to the past events in the way they were supposed to happen. The present Hodor dies, fighting off the Wights, leaving the past Hodor with Hodor as the last word embedded in his brain. Hodor dying was undoubtedly one scene that left fans in tears.

4. Sansa shows her might

The Battle of Bastards had too many scenes to recount but the one scene that no one can forget is when the army of Vale comes to the rescue of Jon Snow and his men. Jon Snow, along with the wildlings and Giants, is trapped between the pile of dead men and Ramsay’s army. When the trapped men (along with
the fans) have lost all hope, there comes the army of Vale charging towards the battleground and saving the day! This scene is the perfect example of how good a player Sansa has become in the Game of Thrones. She uses her ties with Lord Petyr Baelish and thus asks the Knights of Vale to help her win this battle and get back her home.

5.The Hounds feast on their Master

After Ramsay loses the Battle of Bastards, he gets a pounding from Jon Snow. However, Jon does not kill Ramsay and instead leaves the decision of the same to his sister. Sansa, who has suffered so much at the hands of Ramsay, now has the opportunity to take all the revenge she wants. Ramsay is tied up and kept in the dungeons with his beloved hounds. Sansa visits him to remind him that his words, memories, house and everything related to him will disappear forever.

Once the hounds come out of their cages, Ramsay gets an inkling of what is about to happen. However, he has faith in his loyal beasts and tells Sansa that the hounds won’t eat him. In response, Sansa reminds Ramsay that he himself had left the hounds unfed in order to help them feast on the dead Stark children. The hounds first sniff and lick Ramsay, knowing that it is their master but hunger takes over faithfulness, leading to them eating him alive and killing him. Sansa walks away with a smile on her face having put an end to her biggest tormentor.

6. Dany burns the fleet of Astapor

When the masters of Astapor break all hell lose and rebel against Dany’s regime, Dany is forced to take the high road. The masters tell Dany that her reign is going to end but she retorts by saying that her reign has just begun. She then rides Drogon and takes off to kill the cavalry and fleet of masters. Viserion and Rhaegal join her too, making it the first time when all three dragons are seen in action at the same time. They destroy the fleet and then kill the masters to take complete control over the kingdom of Astapor.

7. R+L=J

Probably one of the most anticipated scenes of GOT, it finally comes when Bran experiences a vision of the Tower of Joy. Bran sees Ned Stark discovering Lyanna Stark in the tower, covered in blood after giving birth to a child. Lyanna tells Ned that she does not want to die but everyone knows that no one can avoid the inevitable. She whispers something in Ned’s ears but Bran is not able to hear it well, since he is still in his early days of experiencing visions on his own. He then listens to Lyanna asking Ned to promise her that he will take care of the child and raise him as one of his own. Ned Stark, holding the baby, looks at him opening the eye and then the next shot pans to present day Jon Snow’s eyes.

We all know how Rhaegar and Lyanna were in love and possibly could have had a child. There is no known history about Jon Snow’s mother anywhere as Ned raises him as his own child along with other Stark kids. These hints wer enough to make the fans go gaga over the fact that Jon Snow might be the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna. The above scene just proves the fact that Jon Snow is their son and not Ned Stark’s. This was one of the ‘Hurrah’ moments of the whole show.

8.The King in the North! The King in the North!

When Jon Snow calls all the smaller Houses of the North to tell them about the incoming threat of the Night King and his army, different Lords raise their concerns regarding Jon Snow’s alliance with the Wildlings. Jon makes them understand that they would need all the men possible as the Long Night is about to come and this time it would be because of the White Walkers. Jon tells them that no can run away from the storm as the Night King brings the storm with him. When no one responds, the young Lyanna Mormont breaks the silence by reminding everyone about their allegiance to the House Stark, how Jon avenged the Red Wedding and how he managed to defeat Ramsay Bolton. She swears to support him completely in the wars to come. This leads to Lords of other houses pledging their allegiance to the new Stark King. Everyone erupts into calling Jon Snow the The ‘King in the North, leaving every possible GOT fan ecstatic.

9. The North Remembers

Walder Frey gets a pie from one of the serving maids of the palace. He notices that she is not one of his progeny, as she was too pretty for that. He slaps her rear and gives her a lecherous look as well. However, his mood quickly changes when he is unable to find Black Walder and Lothar, his sons who were expected to be there by that time. He orders the serving maid to call them right now to which she responds by saying that they are already there. She points to the pie that she just served, saying that they were not easy to carve. The perplexed Frey looks at the maid and this is when she takes off her face to reveal that she is Arya Stark. Arya tells Walder Frey that she is a Stark and that a Stark is what he would look at before breathing his last breath. Arya is finally able to avenge the deaths of her mother and brother, all on her own.

10. Cercei has the last laugh

The last episode was undoubtedly the best episode of the whole season with multiple incredible scenes. Out of all of them, Cercei Lannister blowing up of the Sept of Baelor using wildfire topped the list of great moments. The scene has so much prominence as Cercei manages to kill all her immediate threats with this one swift act. The Faith, the followers and the Tyrells are present in the Sept of Baelor for the trial of Loras Tyrell when it blows up. Cercei looks at all the chaos from her chambers at the palace and drinks her wine in style.
